Our Collective Duty to Prevent Child Abuse

" .. The causes of child abuse are complex, but social and personal factors place some people at greater risk to abuse children in their care. Some are simply unprepared and have little ability to manage the challenges of caring for a child. Other factors include: financial stress, substance or alcohol abuse, little access to help, a history of domestic violence in the family or childhood abuse. Most child fatalities from physical abuse involve an unskilled parent or care taker with substance abuse problems and personal histories that include domestic violence .. "
