Being Prepared Speeds Healing from Abuse

“ .. When we make a plan, we acknowledge that child sexual abuse can happen to a child we love and care about. We do not expect it to happen but are prepared if it does happen. When a child discloses sexual abuse, we might feel panicked and want to deny it. We may worry about liability, causing embarrassment or making a mistake. We might even want to brush it aside and try to convince ourselves and the child that it did not happen or was not that serious ..

Make sure to think through your emotional response before you suspect abuse. You will be able to respond in a more supportive manner
